Our client in the Transport and Logistics environment requires the skills of a qualified Fleet Controller from the transport and industry to ensure the most cost-effective and efficient allocation, scheduling, and routing of vehicles according to client service requirements. In addition the incumbent needs to maintain consistent and regular contact with drivers throughout the given shift and to proactively monitor carry-overs and notify client liaison, sales, or Logistics Administrator accordingly.

Minimun Requirements 


  • Grade 12 with sound knowledge of fleet routing, administration, product line and container types

  • Geographical knowledge

  • Logistics or related Diploma

  • Code 14 license advantageous

Roles and Responsibilities 


  • Ensure that client’s legal requirements are adhered to.

  • Ensure that the white sheets and all other records are kept up to date throughout the day until the system is fully functional

  • Reconciliation of manifests & toll cards

  • Assembling the drivers' files e.g. manifests, logsheet, tremcards

  • Ensure staff have the relevant PPE and suitable equipment to perform their task

  • Ensure drivers are correctly briefed and movements are planned to obtain maximum efficiencies

  • Ensure drivers are correctly de-briefed after the days’ works have been completed

  • Monitor work performance and communicate issues with the fleet officers regarding drivers and route deviations

  • Ensure that all the correct documentation is provided to relevant staff e.g. Tremcards, manifests

  • Ensure that service levels meet customers’ expectations

  • Monitor Carryovers and be proactive in notifying the customer liaison/salesperson

  • Ensure that all relevant departments are notified immediately of any accidents, incidents, spillages, and breakdowns

  • Use the optimization system to determine the most efficient and productive scheduling for each vehicle timeously

  • Use the system to track each vehicle planned route vs. its actual route

  • Use the order management tool (Access tool) and to make sure all jobs are balancing. All planned jobs must be either, completed carried over, or canceled. All unscheduled jobs must be accounted for.

  • Maintain data integrity in all systems

  • Weekend work on a Roster system required.


KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

  • Allocate all job tasks to maximize the efficient utilization of the fleet.

  • Responsible for the total administration function relevant to all jobs carried out by the fleet.

  • Ensure that all clients are serviced within the agreed period of time and notified proactively should the service delivery not be possible.

  • Ensure vehicles are made available in line with maintenance requirements and that all relevant staff is notified of all breakdowns, incidents, and accidents.
